Women's Rights in Iran - Dr. Nina Ansary on The Mimi Geerges Show
Pahlavi monarchy - good for women .... Islamic Republic - bad for women. This is mostly true but there's more nuance says Iranian-American historian and author Nina Ansary. She's written a book, Jewels of Allah: The Untold Story of Women in Iran that traces women's rights back to ancient Persia, clears up some misconceptions and introduces some very brave Iranian women advocating for equal rights.
"If you re-interpret those passages [of the Quran], to show a more progressive Islam, then there is that possibility - not fully. But the way Sharia law is embedded right now, there's no hope for women."

Thirty-five years ago, anxiety didn't exist as a diagnostic category. Today, it's the most common form of mental illness. Drawing on his own long-standing battle with anxiety, Scott Stossel, My Age of Anxiety: Fear, Hope, Dread, and the Search for Peace of Mind presents the history and efforts to understand an affliction that is pervasive yet often misunderstood.

The Mimi Geerges Show - Brian Welch from Korn, Interviewed
What causes people to change their beliefs and lifestyles so radically and sometimes so suddenly? Brian "Head" Welch, Save Me From Myself: How I Found God, Quit Korn, Kicked Drugs, and Lived to Tell My Story was a hard-partying, drug addicted rock star. As Korn's lead guitarist, he had every material comfort he could imagine. But in 2005, he walked away from all of it to become a Christian. He's never looked back.
"I just think that God places things inside of us that only He can fill. I believe that. I just thought that I was going to have this satisfaction when I got that dream. And when I got it, I didn’t have that satisfaction. And it di

Older brother Zwai Bala made history as the first black member of the famous Drakensberg Boys Choir, during apartheid. His younger brothers Loyiso and Phelo followed in his footsteps. Only coming together recently to perform as a trio, they've released their first album together. They sing "Something Inside so Strong" and "Lion King" in studio.
"For us, singing is not just about entertaining people, but it's about spreading a message, a positive one. And

"A Concussion Stole My Life" Clark Elliott on TBI and Brain Plasticity
In 1999, Clark Elliott suffered a concussion when his car was rear-ended. Overnight his life changed from that of a professor with a research career in artificial intelligence to a humbled man struggling to get through a single day. At times he couldn’t walk across a room, or even name his five children. Doctors told him he would never fully recover. After eight years, the cognitive demands of his job, and of being a single parent, finally became more than he could manage. By chance, he crossed paths with two Chicago-area research-clinicians—one an optometrist emphasizing neurodevelopmental techniques, the other a cognitive psychologist—work
